I'm looking for something slightly different. I'm looking to use a daily cron script to append each log file to a compressed logfile, and then resume logging to a new uncompressed log. Many of the logfile analyzers have the ability to read compressed logs. Is there a simple way of doing this that will ensure I don't miss any data?
