Hello Drew we exchanged /boot/loader and /boot/boot1 separately for the versions on http://people.freebsd.org/~gallatin (which are of the older FreeBSD 4.1 release), but in both cases we got an error message similar to the one at the end of this mail and the boot aborted. But if we exchange both files for the older versions, the machine boots successfully aside from the error message Loader version 1.1+ required Aborted! start not found Hit [Enter]... which seems to have no consequences.
