Further to my first message, I have noted the following:
1) During both crashes, mrtg left behind a lock file which I later
removed manually.
2) The errors which I listed in my first message occurred in 'rateup'
and 'perl' - both processes used by mrtg. I also noticed that the PID
reported in the crash today matched the pid portion of the filename of
the lock file.
3) There was recently a minor version change in the ports which I
applied to mrtg by means of portupgrade. I don't recall the exact date
unfortunately.
So - for the moment mrtg is my prime suspect. Has anyone else also
running mrtg also recently experienced stability problems?
Thank you.
Regards,
Patrick O'Reilly.
