Uh, no.  That's too confusing, why would /usr/doc be the sources when
the actual documents go to /usr/share/doc?

I use /usr/opt/doc myself.  (Same for www.)  If people agree that all
non-src sources should go to /usr/opt, I'm not against moving ports
there too.
