Yes BSD/OS is regular UFS and I thought it would be possible as well. And yes ro is what I was trying. Ive tried various incantations of ad2 and disklabel says: unknown error 0 in a few cases and in one case bad disk label on ad2c. This disk is good as BSD/OS on it does boot fine. I'll keep hunting around and see what I can come up with. I may end up after all getting the data I need the old fashioned way and restore...hate doing that over the network. Thanks, Keith
