Subject: problems with USB KVM

I am running FreeBSD 7 and I am using a US KVM - which I need to as all my other machines don't have PS/2 ports at all.

I have situations where the KVM is not recognised at bootup. so I have no keyboard once boot is completed. Switching the KVM back and forth from another machines does work eventually..though it does take it quite sometime.

occaisionally I get a disconnect message when I haven't switched the KVM. I then have no keyboard. Switching back and forth does sometimes work. Sometimes I get a 'hub stalled disabling port' message. Sometimes the keyboard stops working without a disconnect message.

All sorts of problems in X. mouse clicks don't work. right mouse menu pops up nowhere near mouse. I usually have to use Alt+F to get a menu up, and then the mouse works...for a while.

Is there some way I can 'hard-code' the location of keyboard and mouse and have it ignore the disconnect and connect. so as to maintain a keyboard and mouse? I don't have these issues when the USB mouse is directly connected..similar with keyboard - except at boot screen where it doesn't work.

Any help appreciated.
Sal.
