Yes, I did go to single user mode before the installworld. In fact, I tried just going to single user mode with "init 1" and booting up into single user mode from scratch. It didn't have any effect on the final outcome. I'm thinking of trying to build without the CPUTYPE?=athlon-xp to see if that makes a difference. I would like, however, to build for my CPU. Sean
