I did respond.... This is my response which apparently was never received: ---- Yes, but I got the silimage model number wrong. It's 3512a. If I stress the controller (dd if=/dev/acd1 of=/dev/null bs=512k) the machine will hang before completion with the GENERIC kernel. When I searched for 3512 I found an existing open bug for hangs, so I assume it's a bad card. I just ordered 2 more SATA controllers, a VIA chipset and a jr-something. I am just trying to use some SATA DVD-Rs. If you like, I can send you the silimage card, so you can test.
