OK.  You've both convinced me.

Let's go for moving comp.*.*.* into comp.*.* for a fist step.

Then we can move comp.*.* into comp.* for a second step.

Then we can move comp.* to comp in stage three.

Over 18 months, I'm sure we can eliminate all crossposting entirely.
