Ciao Luigi, all, On Sun, Aug 23, 1998 at 04:24:52PM +0200, Luigi Rizzo wrote: > cat somefile > /dev/audio > > to see if some noise is produced ? (btw it might even work with .wav > files...) OK, I just did the following: % cat some.wav > /dev/audio # really /dev/audio0 but no sound (cat was hanging in state dspwr according to top). I then bg'ed and tried to kill the cat after a few seconds. Suprise, surprise: total system lockup, necessitating a power-cycle. Some more details: Asus TX97-X m/b w/ BIOS rev 1.08. BIOS setting ``PnP OS installed: NO''. IRQs 5,9,11 assigned to ISA in BIOS PCI setup. DMA channel 3 assigned to ISA in BIOS PCI setup. Thanks!
