There's a real high probability that they ALL had copyrights and I'm guessing they're usually owned by lawyers, not contractors. I can't explain why more don't contain copyright notices. I know at least one contract owner who cares enough to claim his copyrights in writing. See the GPL. (It's not even copyleft.)
