It was really a worm on a hook, but you've seen the hook. :-) If I had the time to do this myself, I'd post my suggestion, including why I intended to make the change, to the -arch mailing list and just forget about it if I got significant resistance. Anyway, I wouldn't try to tackle anything like this until someone's tackled problem of making it easier for default packages to be installed by sysinstall. Someone's going to have to do it for perl5 anyway, and hopefully it'll be done in a pretty reusable fashion. So maybe just shelve the idea until the perl5 package installation is done, then bring the idea out in public once people are satisfied that making packages of things that are hard to maintain in src is a workable approach.
