Interesting - that implies that the trigger is something outside the loader code itself. I guess you could try doing a full buildworld using sources from various dates to narrow it down, but that's a fair bit of work... Actually, a quicker way would be to get copies of /boot/loader from the various snapshot directories at ftp://snapshots.jp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/snapshots/i386/livetree/ to see roughly when the problem appeared. >PS: how to debug loader?
