# mount /dev/fd0.1200 /mnt
# cksum /mnt/kernel
2369390847 1004667 /mnt/kernel

Certainly no errors reading through the floppy.

Two machines showed the same behavior.  They are:

486DX2/66, 16MB RAM
486DX2/66, 20MB RAM
