Ah, it's just fine.. there's nothing wrong with browsing the archives.
Note that the name of the file you looked at is "FreeBSD-SA-96:03" which
means the 3rd advisory for the year 1996.  Perhaps it was indeed a
genuine mistake in the advisory, but I wasn't around back then.

Maybe Warner Losh, FreeBSD's Security Officer, could address your
questions.  But in general, I don't think anyone needs to worry about
problems that are 4 years old and were taken care of.  :-)
