On a related topic, note that most lower-end laptops have low-resolution screens (1024x768). The screens may be physically large, but the resolution is small. You'll have to pay a significant premium to get a laptop with a decent resolution, and it's possible that you may end up paying twice as much as a comparable desktop. Also, LCD screens aren't as good as CRTs for color reproduction. If you're doing any kind of work that needs good color reproduction, LCDs are probably not a good choice. On the plus side, the price of a laptop with an high resolution screen (e.g., 1600x1200) is pretty good compared to the prices of high-resolution LCD monitors (>1280x1024). LCD screens are also much sharper than CRT screens (in native LCD resolution). -- Darryl Okahata darrylo@soco.agilent.com DISCLAIMER: this message is the author's personal opinion and does not constitute the support, opinion, or policy of Agilent Technologies, or of the little green men that have been following him all day.
