I noticed I have this problem, too, but I just added: link acd0 rdvd As a further rule in devfs.conf. It works fine. No need to patch the port, in my opinion. Here the full solution for my Thinkpad R40: link acd0 cdrom link acd0 dvd link acd0 rdvd perm acd0 0660 You need to be in operator group to use acd0, if you configure devfs like this. Martin
