All of my ports are supposed to be up-to-date. If I do a locate on libm.so.3, I see it in /usr/local/lib/compat. I see that the one in /usr/lib is libm.so.4. I don't know anything about either of these. That's why it is saying to use the -rpath option, to add /usr/local/lib/compat to your ld search path. You're probably pushing the envelope here, working with multimedia controls.
