Contributions can have many forms. First of all, grab yourself a copy of FreeBSD and install it after you carefully read the installation instructions (you can find out about ways to get FreeBSD, by following the link "Getting FreeBSD" at the left-sidebar of http://www.FreeBSD.org/ -- it leads you to the FreeBSD handbook, http://www.FreeBSD.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/mirrors.html). - You can install FreeBSD and see how you like it. Contructive comments on the way things work, are a valuable source of feedback, that the developers will be glad to hear. - Start at http://www.FreeBSD.org/ [the home page of the FreeBSD project] and browse the documentation that is posted there. It should be helpful enough for a newcomer to FreeBSD, otherwise it is a bug in the documentation. One of the articles that are available online, part of the FreeBSD documentation set, is an article called "Contributing to FreeBSD". You can find it at: http://www.FreeBSD.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/contributing/ This article should give a few pointers that will get you started.
