    hmmm, i got to http://people.freebsd.org/~jdp/s1g/
    read this page.
    
    you have a kind of chicken and egg problem: you need to update
    cvsup, but it's too old, and will get kicked from cvsup
    servers. try using the package listed there.
    you'll want the non-gui version.
