Applications (DNS clients) just query the DNS server every time, and if it is remote and out of your reach there is nothing you can do about it, short of using a different DNS server. However, if there is a local 'named' process you can get rid of its cache contents only by restarting it (AFAIK). As user 'root', try ndc restart and check '/var/log/messages' for the new startup message. That should do the trick.
