Typically jemalloc assertion failures point to a bug in the application (double
frees, etc.).  It is possible that there is a jemalloc bug here, but that would
not be my starting assumption.

jemalloc has a number of debugging options available to help find application
bugs, documented in the man page.  Please feel free to reopen the bug if you're
able to narrow this down to a jemalloc issue.
