AFAIK, JetDirect can boot via bootp which sends it its IP address. This basically means that you may have to run bootpd somewhere. Furthermore, JetDirect implements BSD lpd support for remote printing (i.e. listens on the necessary ports.) It should have no problem with multiple requests. Therefore, something will have to run lpd client part. FreeBSD box should be able to do both, without problem. You could also run Samba on FreeBSD to map lanman printers into lpr/lpd scheme. We have some HP w/JetDirect printers here, but I'd have to ask our admins about their administration. FWIW, it is very likely that JetDirect behaves as a lanman printer as well. (as a matter of fact, your mail implies it, now that I have read it again.) /Alby > Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated. > -- > Rich Kuhns rjk@grauel.com > PO Box 6249 > 100 Sawmill Road > Lafayette, IN 47903 > (317)477-6000 x319
