You know...just being a newbie to unix, it seems to me that if the problem with removing the npx0 device happens this frequently, something should be done to fix that.  The installation handbook mentions nothing about this being a mandatory device, neither do the GENERIC kernel notes, and when the error comes up during the make, it doesn't give any clue.

It's no wonder the question comes up, none of the documentation tells you that the kernel recompile will not work without it.
