Please cf. misc/61388's Description: The ASUS M2400N Notebooks have a SigmaTel sound device which worked perfect with 5.0R and 5.1R. Since 5.2R it doesn't work anymore. So you see, 5.0R and 5.1R worked fine, then 5.2R broke it by lumping ICH4 together with ICH5 code, thus breaking it. My patch restored the 5.1R behaviour for ICH4 and hence fixing the problem. > Are you confident that if I commit this patch, it won't > disrupt other ich users? (It would be helpful if others with ich > hardware would let us know :) ) I'm reasonably confident. It won't be any worse than the 5.1R situation, at least. And 5.2R is broken here anyway. :-) But yes, feedback from other ich4 users will be appreciated.
