Ill use this same topic to ask this.. :-) when i enable dhcp for lets say my bfe0 card: ifconfig_bfe0="DHCP" when the system boots, and there is no cable connected to the interface, i see this: bfe0: no link .............. giving up the cable is rarely connected becouse its a notebook.. and that message takes about 5 seconds to pass. and it occurrs twice when the system boots up. why is it trying to obtain a ip adress on a inteface wich has no link? it should quit inmediatly... (if i dont configure this on rc.conf, then when pluggin a cable, dhclient wont run, as stated in devd.conf, wich is pretty neat.) good luck, -- Phillip Neumann <pneumann@gmail.com>
