can you describe 'hangs?'

can you still get into the kernel debugger?
(have you got the kernel debugger in the kernel? (options KDB))

if you can get into the KDB that gives us something to work with..
does it still ping?
does <ALT><F8> still beep (assuming you haven't got a login on screen 8..
