According to Tim Vanderhoek: > Is it (potentially) harmful to leave it writeable? I've got /var/tmp > symlinked to /usr/tmp so I've made it writeable. You should make the other way around. Temporary files are supposed to be in either /tmp or in /var/tmp. That's what /var is for. 4.4BSD adopted the more intelligent way of getting as much as possible out of /usr. /usr/tmp is a leftover from pre-4.4BSD and should die. -- Ollivier ROBERT -=- The daemon is FREE! -=- roberto@keltia.freenix.fr FreeBSD keltia.freenix.fr 2.2-CURRENT #16: Sun Jul 21 13:26:53 MET DST 1996
