I have been agonizing for a few days trying to decide whether to get IDE or Ultra SCSI. Basically the situation is: I DO NOT like dealing with hardware and the company I am planning to order only offers Ultra SCSI or Ultra Wide (adaptec 2940U or 2940UW). If I get the CD rom and the HD on the two separate channels of the IDE controller will it still be much slower than Ultra SCSI? I have an understaing of the differences between IDE and SCSI (partly from magazines and from http://sysdoc.pair.com), but that doesn't really tell me much in terms of wether I will actually see a noticeable difference. The computer is going to be: 64MB 10ns SDRAM DIMMs Cyrix P200+ The difference in price betwen IDE and Ultra is about $700. Is it worth it?
