1.  Choose a SCSI ID for your tape.
2.  Install host adaptor and drive.  If you don't have any SCSI disks,
    disable the SCSI BIOS, otherwise it will hang looking for a disk.
3.  Boot.

Obviously this didn't work for you.  Let's see your dmesg output.
