It's separate.  Julian and I are working on adding SLICE functionality 
to the CAM layer at the moment; initially just to the 'da' driver, but 
once we have the out-of-band slicing code resolved this should extend 
to 'cd' as well.

(Actually, we could probably put an FFS filesystem on an 'sa' device as 
 well.  Is anyone interested in something this disgusting?)
