The change you describe is not in 2.2.6.

This is intended to do trap translation to make e.g. Franz' Allegro
Common Lisp work.

However, the Linux emulator LKM should not work at _all_ across
versions.  It sounds like you've gotten your LKMs and your kernel out
of sync.
