It was ported at Caldera's expense, not out of StarDivision's generosity. My invective was actually directed at the current Linux libc fiasco, where are tolerable and relatively well sorted library (their old libc) is being abandoned for a buggy, inefficient, bloated monstrosity (glibc). Tricks like the above are fairly indicative of it's general quality, and we can expect problems in the emulation domain at least equivalent to those in the Linux a.out -> ELF upgrade timeframe.
