I tried a restore from a tape which had formerly been unreadable (without the patch) and it was fine. I know that's not a LOT of testing, but its some, and it definitely starts up and "plays nice" as best as I can determine. I don't happen to have an extra 30G RAID set laying around to do a *full* restore onto (which would be required for full verification).
