Here's the line I've got within a menu block in .fvwm2rc + "ping dukkha" Exec xterm -n "dukkha" -T "ping dukkha" -e ping -c 5 dukkha It works fine, but disappears too soon to read the summary. The real problem is that I don't know whether to tell fvwm2 or xterm how to behave. I can't find hints in either man page so it might not even be possible, or it's something easy that I just can't see.
