I would like to update my boot blocks on my IDE (probably a Western Digital) /dev/wd0, but apparently my disklabel is not good. If I try disklabel -B -b /boot/boot1 -s /boot/boot2 /dev/rwd0 I get disklabel: bad pack magic number (label is damaged, or pack is unlabeled) Can I get a proper disklabel on the disk without hosing the filesystems? (I do have a tar backup from last night, but I'd like to avoid using it.) Many thanks. Clark Gaylord cgaylord@vt.edu P.S. Please respond with e-mail; I track -current, but not -questions. P.P.S. This is 3.0-current, cvsup'ed nightly (I just did a make world this AM). I also made a boot floppy and test kernel, and that loaded correctly (up to panic: no init, of course ;-) P.P.P.S.
