If you're running 2.2, then this question is not apropos to -current. Try -questions next time. How is it hanging? You do understand that it will attempt to read a string from stdin to set the password to, ya? If it is hanging, most likely you have another pwd_mkdb running around somewhere, or you are running a script with does not properly pass it the password.
