NFS is so much simpler (if it isn't an installation from > a public server) that I would expect it to be common. Actually, I've always found the FTP to be simpler... Stick files on computer (or mount CD). Done. I always keep the latest -RELEASE on a system here for FTP, so that if we have another system that needs setup, I just do a FTP install (amazing how fast they go over 100mbit/full duplex ;), and then NFS mounted installworld at some point from the latest build I have sitting around. Only time I ever tried NFS, it was a disaster. Granted, it was with 2.1.5 a few months back, (don't ask), and I had to jump through more hoops than you would BELIEVE to get that dang thing to just INSTALL. --- *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* | Matthew Fuller http://www.over-yonder.net/~fullermd | * fullermd@futuresouth.com fullermd@over-yonder.net * | UNIX Systems Administrator Specializing in FreeBSD | * FutureSouth Communications ISPHelp ISP Consulting * | "The only reason I'm burning my candle at both ends, | * because I haven't figured out how to light the * | middle yet" | *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-current" in the body of the message
