I rebuilt my (2.2.8) kernel last weekend and brought my /etc/rc.local
file up to date... but now I cannot ftp into my main workstation,
tao. Neither from here at work or from tao's ethernett'd neighbor,
  sage.

A cursory comparison of my /etc/* configuration files doesn't tell
me anything---at least, nothing jumps out at me. Anybody know what
I did to wreck ftp? ...and what, if anything, is likely to be the
  next gotcha?!

  thanks much,

  gary
