I just got off the phone with Jim Jonez at Onstream about the Onstream drive; they are working as we speak on pruning their sensitive intellectual property out of their hardware manual so they can make it available. I also took the opportunity to make the point that tape drives are meant to behave like tape drives, ie. that we shouldn't need their damn manual to talk to the drive in the first place. Overall things were pretty positive; I hope to hear from him later again today, and it sounds like we should be able to put documentation in various peoples' hands by the end of next week. I'll also try to arrange a backchannel for us to flame their developers directly. If anyone has any contacts with HP that would allow us to do similar things with their tape people, that'd be useful. -- \\ Sometimes you're ahead, \\ Mike Smith \\ sometimes you're behind. \\ mike@smith.net.au \\ The race is long, and in the \\ msmith@freebsd.org \\ end it's only with yourself. \\ msmith@cdrom.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-scsi" in the body of the message
