I'm trying to find a tape backup package more robust than tar, better functionality than dump (can't span filesystems?), and maybe a better interface. BRU is out in elf for fbsd 3.1. I'm leaning towards this. Lonetar could be used under Linux emulation, but perusing the lists/newsgroup seems to indicate problems using Linux emulation in that the software appears to traverse the compat tree rather that the true bsd hierarchy. Seems to me a workaround wouldn't be difficult for this, tho'. BackupEDGE has a SCO release--has anyone tried this under SCO emulation? Any comments, suggestions, experiences etc would be greatly appreciated!
