I actually get the pointy hat for this; I thought the discussion that = Marcel and I had was copied to -emulation. Checking my archives proved = me wrong on that; so mea culpa. I thought we'd already been over this = and hashed it all out, wheras we hadn't. Basically, if we're going to be "compatible", we need to consider that = as an absolute; tweaking website stats (not necessarily a bad thing) is = something that's nice but not worth sacrificing the accuracy of our = compatability for. Right off the top of my head, not returning "Linux" breaks everything = that uses RPM and every "portable" shell script that we don't actively = patch. The issue with RPM really becomes significant since Marcel's = work commits us to looking as much like RedHat as possible (for better = or worse), and this means that RPM has to work "just so". Again, my apologies that this context wasn't available before the = commit. -- = \\ The mind's the standard \\ Mike Smith \\ of the man. \\ msmith@freebsd.org \\ -- Joseph Merrick \\ msmith@cdrom.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
