Not a bad idea. You also need to handle the fact that some developers refuse on principle to mfc anything since they don't run -stable. Others will do it, but they usually want to avoid stepping on the original committer's toes in case he was planning to mfc it at a later date. [On a little further reflection, I don't know how politically acceptable your idea is, either...
