Hello, I was trying to install Nautilus onto my FreeBSD 4.5-STABLE machine and I received a stop error code. I was told to send mail with the make error and the config.log files. I am a newbie at FreeBSD, actually, I am a newbie at unix, so I am not sure what you need from me at this time besides the output files. I also am attaching my dmesg output as well. My machine is a Digital PWS 500au. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is the make output: ===> Configuring for nautilus-1.0.6_5 loading cache ./config.cache checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c -o root -g wheel checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking whether gmake sets ${MAKE}... yes checking for working aclocal... missing checking for working autoconf... missing checking for working automake... missing checking for working autoheader... missing checking for working makeinfo... found checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... no checking for Cygwin environment... no checking for mingw32 environment... no checking how to run the C preprocessor... cc -E checking host system type... alpha-portbld-freebsd4.5 checking build system type... alpha-portbld-freebsd4.5 checking for gcc... cc checking whether the C compiler (cc -O -pipe -mcpu=ev4 ) works... no configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables. ===> Script "configure" failed unexpectedly. Please report the problem to gnome@FreeBSD.org [maintainer] and attach the "/usr/ports/x11-fm/nautilus/work/nautilus-1.0.6/config.log" including the output of the failure of your make command. Also, it might be a good idea to provide an overview of all packages installed on your system (e.g. an `ls /var/db/pkg`). *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/x11-fm/nautilus. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is the config.log This file contains any messages produced by compilers while running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake. configure:828: checking for a BSD compatible install configure:881: checking whether build environment is sane configure:938: checking whether gmake sets ${MAKE} configure:984: checking for working aclocal configure:997: checking for working autoconf configure:1010: checking for working automake configure:1023: checking for working autoheader configure:1036: checking for working makeinfo configure:1054: checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles configure:1101: checking for Cygwin environment configure:1117: cc -c -O -pipe -mcpu=ev4 -I/usr/local/include -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions conftest.c 1>&5 configure: In function `main': configure:1113: `__CYGWIN32__' undeclared (first use in this function) configure:1113: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once configure:1113: for each function it appears in.) configure: failed program was: #line 1106 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" int main() { #ifndef __CYGWIN__ #define __CYGWIN__ __CYGWIN32__ #endif return __CYGWIN__; ; return 0; } configure:1134: checking for mingw32 environment configure:1146: cc -c -O -pipe -mcpu=ev4 -I/usr/local/include -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions conftest.c 1>&5 configure: In function `main': configure:1142: `__MINGW32__' undeclared (first use in this function) configure:1142: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once configure:1142: for each function it appears in.) configure: failed program was: #line 1139 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" int main() { return __MINGW32__; ; return 0; } configure:1163: checking how to run the C preprocessor configure:1184: cc -E -I/usr/local/include -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions conftest.c >/dev/null 2>conftest.out configure:1295: checking host system type configure:1316: checking build system type configure:1336: checking for gcc configure:1449: checking whether the C compiler (cc -O -pipe -mcpu=ev4 ) works configure:1465: cc -o conftest -O -pipe -mcpu=ev4 -I/usr/local/include -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions conftest.c -pthread -L/usr/local/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -liconv 1>&5 /usr/libexec/elf/ld: cannot find -liconv configure: failed program was: #line 1460 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" main(){return(0);} ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is my dmesg output Unrecognized boot flag '0'.
