Just to make sure i have this right....

i want to turn a 4.0 installation back into 3.4, preferably w/o
reformatting. I'll back up /home but that will be tough, since it's
huge, and all i have are floppies and a non-functional zip drive.

If i boot with the 2 floppies and choose basic binary only, will that
overwrite all the 4.0 binaries such that i can make world from the 3.4
tree and have everything work out OK? I haven't run mergemaster yet
under 3.4, and of course i will back up /etc and /home.

I'd really like to avoid a scratch reinstall, if possible.
