I'm pretty sure there is no public FTP copy of FreeBSD 2.2.8 except maybe on one or two (or three) sites. I have a copy of the FreeBSD 2.2.6, 3.[01234], and 4.0 CDs should you happen to be in the area (Detroit, Michigan).
