Please remember that "STABLE" refers to the stability of the source tree, not of the resulting running system. That is, you should not see developmental work going on in -STABLE. Your question implies some expectation as to uptime and/or crash-proofedness, which isn't what the -STABLE refers to. Every so often, a discussion breaks out about the suitablilty of the names used on the branches, because of the confusion generated by the current (heh) names.
