OK, I ran on different hardware and I get outputs from 'file *' for 5 files now and an error message on the 6th: acd0: READ_BIG - ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=6f ascq=03 error=04 as for the hw.ata.atapi_dma="1" in loader.conf, that doesn't affect either machine. I'm at least much happier with this other machine which does not crash. Does someone have any idea what I can do to progress in fixing this?
