I went to a 'LAN party' the other night, as I have been told they are officially called. A few friends of mine in networking get together regularly in a basement chock full of routers, servers, and NIC cards. The guy who organizes it is a Cisco/NT networking admin, and definitely has a nice set up. They invited me over to help them all get familiar with Unix. Well, I have only used my P2-266 for dialup and a DHCP client at work. But connecting to my friend's network was a breeze as expected. But they were all blown away by how fast Netscape on FreeBSD worked. My machine blew away a P3-500 running Windows. I'm sure having 160 megs of RAM didn't hurt, but it was nice to be reminded how well BSD performs in comparison to the majority leaders. NOTE: Please CC me, as I am not currently subscribed. Thanks. jm -- There are only 10 kinds of people in this world- those who understand binary, and those who don't.
