[-- Attachment #1 --] We are running BSD version 4.4 and it appears that the dump utility ignores the nodump flag and backs up the hierarchy below the directory flagged as nodump. In the example below, the structure below env1 is included in the dump. Are we doing something incorrect? Thanks. dump -0uan -f - /usr |gzip |rsh oos0a dd of=/raid1/backup/kws5a/full/usr_0 kws5a(43) pwd /usr kws5a ls -lo total 43 drwxr-xr-x 11 root wheel - 512 Feb 20 14:50 X11R6 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel - 6656 Feb 20 15:00 bin drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel - 512 Feb 20 09:41 compat drwxr-x--- 2 root wheel - 512 Apr 29 10:47 crash drwxr-xr-x 12 lbxprod lbxprod nodump 512 Feb 25 12:28 env1 drwxr-xr-x 12 lbxtest2 lbxtest2 - 512 Feb 25 14:47 env2 drwxr-xr-x 12 lbxtest4 lbxtest4 - 512 Feb 27 10:33 env4 kws5a# cat /etc/fstab # Device Mountpoint FStype Options Dump Pass# /dev/ad0s1b none swap sw 0 0 /dev/ad0s1a / ufs rw,noatime 1 1 /dev/ad0s1f /usr ufs rw,noatime 2 2 /dev/ad0s1e /var ufs rw,noatime 2 0 proc /proc procfs rw 0 0 opshome:/usr/opshome /usr/opshome nfs rw,tcp 0 0 kws5a# cat /etc/dumpdates /dev/ad0s1a 0 Mon Jul 15 16:28:42 2002 /dev/ad0s1f 0 Mon Jul 15 17:05:07 2002 /dev/ad0s1e 0 Mon Jul 15 16:33:15 2002 ***************************************************************** DISCLAIMER: The information contained in this e-mail may be confidential and is intended solely for the use of the named addressee.
